Boeing stroke two deals with two Saudi Arabia airlines. As part of the agreement, the company is going to sell 121 aircraft worth about 37 billion dollars.
Boeing has announced that Saudi Arabian Airlines intends to buy 49 787 Dreamliners, which will double the air carrier's existing Boeing fleet which already includes Boeing 777 and 787.
On top of that, another order for the aircraft came from Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia’s new air carrier which is planning to purchase 38 Boeing 787-9 aircraft followed by the subsequent acquisition of 33 additional planes.
According to Boeing information, these two orders combined are the fifth-largest commercial order in the entire history of the American aircraft-manufacturing giant. The purchase of planes will ensure the servicing of 330 million domestic passengers while attracting another 100 million passengers by the end of the present decade.
“The new airline reflects the ambitious vision of Saudi Arabia to be at the core of shaping the future of global air travel and be a true disrupter in terms of customer experience,” said Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air.
Two Biden administration officials shared on condition of anonymity that Boeing had been negotiating with the Saudis for three years before it finally landed the deal.
The White House said that it was pleased that Boeing was able to strike this massive deal after years of negotiations, as it called this partnership “another milestone in eight decades of cooperation between Saudi Arabia and American industry.”
